((VO)) AT A BOARD MEETING TODAY– MIDTOWN GENERAL MANAGER GLENN WILLIAM SAID THE FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS IS A SALES TAX ON MATERIALS FOR THE PROJECT. HE SAYS EVEN IF MIDTOWN WOULDN’T HAVE BEEN APPROVED FOR THE FUNDING– THE PROJECT STILL WOULD’VE WENT FORWARD. THEY WOULD’VE HAD TO SCALE IT DOWN. HE ALSO SAYS THE CLUB ATTRACTS PEOPLE TO ROCHESTER– AND ADDS THIRTY NEW JOBS. STEVE SANOW IS A MIDTOWN MEMBER. HE SAYS MIDTOWN HAS A MANTRA– “MIDTOWN ISN’T FOR EVERYONE.” SANOW SAYS IF IT’S NOT FOR EVERYONE– WHY WOULD EVERYONE PAY FOR IT? ((SOT)) i think they’ve misjudged the demographic here. people can’t afford it. we dont have bowing here we dont have major industry moving into rochester we have a few intramural projects but we dont have anything huge to support the dues we’re going to have to pay ((KAYLA/LIVE)) SANOW SAYS CLUB MEMBERSHIP GOES UP BY FIVE DOLLARS EACH YEAR. HE SAYS HE CURRENTLY PAYS 174 DOLLARS FOR HIS. HE ISN’T SURE HOW MUCH MORE IT’LL GO UP ONCE THE RENNOVATIONS ARE FINISHED– BUT HE SAYS HE’LL BE LOOKING INTO THE Y-M-C-A TO SEE WHAT THEY OFFER. JOHN?
