Patient Regains Use of Arm After Biceps Tear Surgery

– I mean, so far these
guys have done a great job. Mitch seems really knowledgeable and is really good at
explaining what he’s doing, and what I should be doing,
so I can understand it better. And then, it will let me get better. My name’s Rob, I tore my bicep. So I had a bicep repair
surgery done at the elbow and started coming here last week. So this is my second week
of working with Mitch, and after my second visit, I could tell, we got my arm almost completely straight. And I told him on my first visit, I’m gonna do whatever he tells me to do, and I want to get better, so.
(laughing) I’m pretty much doing
that, and I’m trusting him, Hopefully get all put back together. One of the main things
was, I had my arm locked in at a right angle from after the surgery. They had me in the splint,
and then I was very paranoid about just leaving my whole arm limp, just so I wouldn’t be tempted
to use my bicep at all. So one of the big things is just allowing my arm to be straight. So around the house,
I’ll take the brace off and just kinda let it
hang down and use gravity. Apparently it helps with all that stuff. But another thing, ’cause I
didn’t use my arm for a lot, my wrist really tightened up. So that was another thing,
just loosen up my wrist and just getting that back to normal. I personally would say, if they’re worried about
legitimately being hurt, then go see somebody just to make sure ’cause you could always make it worse. For me, I pretty much knew immediately that my bicep was messed up pretty bad. So I wanted to do whatever I could to get that put back together. So I actually had a surgery a
week after I hurt myself, but after having this, I would be worried if it felt bad enough that I could eventually mess
it up to that extent, so. If you’re worried about it,
it’s years of being hurt, then I’d rather get it checked out. I would rehab before, but, I mean, it seems like
they’re knowledgeable and nice, and it’s working so far. So yeah, absolutely. (energetic music)
