On behalf of Expert Village, I’m Angel Perez.
This is Sensei Richard Acuna with Champion Martial Arts in Miami, Florida teaching you
No-Gi grappling. Hi! I’m here to explain to you about No-Gi grappling and what it is.
No-Gi grappling is a combination of Judo, Jujitsu, and freestyle wrestling. Basically,
the difference between judo and jujitsu, a gi is worn. In no-gi grappling you would just
basically wear shorts and a t-shirt. Sometimes even I see competitors without a t-shirt and
just the muscles and nothing on top of that. It was originated I believe here in the United
States. It’s becoming very, very popular right now. Like I said, the only difference between
judo, jujitsu, and no-gi grappling is the gi. In judo and jujitsu, of course you wear
a gi for the grips. In no-gi grappling you don’t. Basically, the techniques are the same,
the rules change.
